Acting on a specific information, Anantnag police laid a naka in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sangam headed by DO Sangam. During naka checking a Sumo bearing registration number JK15/3213 was intercepted. On checking 2.5 kilograms of cannabis powder was recovered from one person identified as Nazir Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Raheem Shah resident of Bagh Bandipora. The vehicle was seized and the driver namely Mumtaz Ahmad Lone was also arrested along with the main accused on the spot. A case FIR number 196/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in this regard and further investigation was taken up.
